There are very few in numbers. For 2.10.x series, only licensing, administration and portfolios module are encoded which you don’t need to worry about. In the real business word, you never need to changes or customize this source because it is directly related with core architecture having no effect on frontend or business logic.
In other word almost 80% PHP source are open except few modules what you NEVER need to modify or deal with. For example Administrator, Licensing , protfolies etc.
